Rumba
Rumba is known as the dance of love, originating in Latin America and Cuba. Danzon, Guaracha, and Son are all Latin dances that have influenced the early roots of Rumba.
Originally, Rumba was a wild hip moving, sexual strutting dance that is very unlike the Rumba of today. The Ballroom Rumba is most like Son, a slower less erotic dance. Rumba was not standardized until the mid-1950's. It is done is 4/4 time, having a series of slows and quicks. Having a romantic feel, Rumba has a very strong, flowing Cuban motion.
