East Coast Swing

Most commonly known as simplified Swing or triple Swing, East Coast is a "formal version" of Swing. Most commonly observed as having two triple steps with a rock-step, East Coast is a six count dance, but at higher levels can have eight count patterns as well.

East Coast was created to organize, or "formalize" the Lindy Hop and the other swing daces. Aurthur Murray created East Coast to keep up with the times. Foxtrot was the dance that Murray used to dance to Big Band music until he realized that something else must be formed. Thus East Coast was born.
